There is an easy trick to generating large profits without modding — double up lines placing a new line exactly on top of an existing lineif there is the makd to support it this can nearly double fares without increasing costs at all, since you only pay for tunnels and stations.

Makee Stations will basically never turn a profit, although you might be able to cover some of the trqnsit. Passenger Harbor will never feom even close to covering noney costs. Airports cannot even cover a tiny fraction of their costs.

Now as for why this might be okay. In Skylines there is no «road user tax», you foot the whole bill for road maintenance, and in a large city it can be pretty high, easily in the top 3 expenses, or possibly the highest depending on how fond you are of tunnels and wide roads. Essentially you pay for cims to drive. So it’s not that strange that you pay for cims to ride the metro or use fom services.

It is saving you money on road upgrades. IRL quite a few cities do subsidize mass transit. The cost of adding new roads is not to be underestimated, especially because later in the city’s life you’ll be looking at tunnels, and these cost 6x the normal maintenance. In the current map I am using I have got all my transport to make a massive profit except for ships. It all depends on where the stations, stops, and metros are placed. Also keep using IPT check to see what stops are in use and by how many cims and those that do not get used get rid of.
