I realize that there are a few posts floating around mainly those that are archived by now , but I figure as time goes on the industry evolves and avenues become more accessible than others. Right now I dont have the free time to actually get a part time job that isnt working nights, and the cost to go to and from work exceeds what I’d likely earn in a day due to the lack of public transport and Uber being insanely expensive. I primarily make ambient music but am not really set on a particular style. I’m saving up to get a drum machine and might buy a Teenage Engineering pocket operator just so that I can have a physical synth as opposed to the presets in GarageBand and Ableton. Not trying to be a downer but unless you have a sizeable following and fans then you will be wasting money putting your music on major marketplaces like itunes. Yes, I’m biased for it though because i’ve built a small following and used it for 5 years now. It’s useful for independent artists because it is free and heavily relies on being community based.
